Palestinians are preparing to mark the 70th anniversary of the Nakba. We invite you to join the many local and national events being organised by PSC in solidarity with Palestine.
The Nakba, or ‘catastrophe’ took place between 1947 and 1949, when Zionist paramilitary forces ethnically cleansed Palestinians from their land. Today, an estimated 7 million Palestinian refugees are still denied their right to go home.
But the Nakba did not end in with the creation of Israel in May of 1948. Israel continues to dispossess Palestinians and ethnically cleanse them from their land. 70 years of occupation, colonisation, and apartheid is 70 years too many. That’s why showing solidarity in the UK is more important than ever.
There are five things you can do to show solidarity with Palestinians this month:
1. Download the Nakba Resource pack, which is full of information and resources you can use to engage your community and hold events and activities
2. Visit national PSC dedicated page on ’70 years of Nakba’ where you can find a factsheet on the Right of Return, and social media graphics you can share
3. Come to the Sheffield protest or Attend the national demonstration in London on May 11th in solidarity with Palestine after 70 Years of Nakba and in protest at Israel’s premeditated murder of peaceful protestors at the Great March of Return in Gaza.
